London Fashion Week Festival, Step Your Game Up!

Last weekend thousands of individuals flooded to 180 The Strand to experience the Autumn/Winter 2019 fashion week festival.

The prestige event of London fashion week, draws in A-listers from all over the globe. London is bold and proud, with designers daring to bend the rule of fashion and step outside the box.

The Autumn/Winter 2018 collection bought gender fluidity to the catwalk. We had men in silks and florals and gender fluid themes dominated the trends. Along with London Fashion Week and their general public event London Fashion Week Festival, the fashion season brings out many other catwalks and designer talks. At catwalk for change, Nicole was their first transgender model. Many celebrities applause how britain is taking on the challenge to reshape how society views gender.

The week also saw important issues such as recycling having attention drawn to them. From garments and pieces being made from reused materials, to designers speaking about the issue and raising awareness. The designers Vin and Omi have rethought their entire shipping process and are aiming to reduce the amount of plastic and paper waste you receive when purchasing and ordering online.

After London Fashion Week draws to a close, the sister event London Fashion Week Festival, is opened out the public. This is the 10th time I have ritualy gone to the general public’s version of fashion week, however, this is the first time that I have been thoroughly disappointed with the experience.

The festival is historically full of emerging individual boutiques. An amazing floor plan, laid out into sections. The Shoe Room, Accessories, Independent boutiques selling purses and bags.

Autumn/Winter 2018 was by far the smallest London Fashion Week Festival. There was a mere 70 pop up stalls, squished into a quarter of the size it usually is.

The stalls which were there, lacked the beauty of independent boutiques. For example Foot Locker had a large stall with a small collection of styles of Air Max shoes which you could get personalised. The personalised touch was a nice addition but Foot Locker? Not the usual small type boutique.

We missed Eddie, who have been many times in the past. They are a boutique with amazing handmade leather goods. Horizon studios have been in the past and revolutionised my travel experience. Alexander White is a luxury shoe brand has been there every year, missing from It was nice to see the return of Emma J Shipley, she is a british designer who produces breath taking scarfs and silk garments.

The main absence in the weekend is the lack of MC at the catwalk events. No host to interact with the crowd and warm them up, it made the catwalks uncomfortable. Ushered in, sit down, music plays and people walk up and down in front of you, then you get up and leave. Not the engaging and exciting experience from previous years.

I will return in February and hopefully the festival is able to redeem itself. Tickets are on sale now for the Spring/Summer19 London Fashion Week Festival in February. Advertised at 140 shops, double the amount in Autumn/Winter18. Hopefully we can put this down to a blip in the grand scheme of things.

Wonderful process! I’ve been surfing online greater than 3 hours lately, but
I by no means discovered any interesting article like yours.
It’s pretty value enough for me. In my view, if all website owners

the net will be a lot more useful than ever before.
